Basé à Zurich, en Suisse, Black Sea Dahu est centré autour de l'autrice-compositrice-interprète Janine Cathrein. Le projet ne s'est pas toujours appelé ainsi. Au début, Janine jouait sous le nom de Josh, accompagnée de ses frères et sœurs. En 2018, avec la sortie de l'album culte White Creatures, le groupe renaît sous le nom de Black Sea Dahu. Pourquoi ce nom questionerez vous ? Le "Dahu" est une créature légendaire des Alpes (un animal dont les pattes sont plus courtes d'un côté pour marcher à flanc de montagne).
