The Animals est un groupe de rock britannique fondé en 1962 qui s'est séparé en 1967. Comme les Rolling Stones, cette formation fut l'une des pionnières du British Blues qui contribua à importer en Europe le rhythm and blues des noirs américains. The Animals trouve son origine dans la grisaille de Newcastle. Issus de familles ouvrières, Price, Steel, Chandler et Valentine jouent chaque fin de semaine dans un petit orchestre de jazz baptisé Alan Price Combo du nom du chanteur, et également membre le plus influent du groupe.
